What to Expect From Your Maternity Photography Session | studio maternity photography Surbiton

If you have never had a pregnancy photoshoot, it’s normal to feel a little unsure about what to expect. The good news? Maternity sessions with Shal are designed to be relaxed, supportive and most of all fun!
If you are looking for a studio maternity session in Surbiton, Shal will contact you before your session and guide you through planning your session. This includes a guide giving you lots of details about what to expect and how to prepare, and a short phone call to talk over the styling.

On the day of the shoot, Shal will help you to choose 3-4 outfits from her extensive client-wardrobe, and guide you through natural poses and movements that complement your bump and reflect your personality. This bit is a lot of fun! Shal will guide and make you feel at ease whilst capturing authentic poses and natural moments. If you wish to bring your partner or children, they are more than welcome to come. If you want to make this a moment just for you – not a problem – just come and have a wonderful shoot with your studio maternity photographer.

Each session usually lasts about 1 and a half hours, which gives us a good amount of time to relax and enjoy the photo session. During the session, we can stop for snacks and drinks and take our time creating beautiful images.
After the session, I carefully edit your images to enhance lighting, tones and details whilst still keeping everything natural and timeless. What you receive in the end are not just timeless studio maternity portraits, but a collection of memories that captures the anticipation, connection and natural beauty that grows within you.

Maternity sessions are about celebrating your body and the incredible journey it’s on. Even if you don’t always feel your best, a professional photographer knows how to use light, angles, and styling to highlight your strength and beauty in a natural, flattering way.
