What to Expect During a Newborn Photoshoot: A Step-by-Step Guide for Parents | by your newborn and family photographer kingston

Welcoming a newborn into the world is an exciting and life-changing experience. These early days can go in a flash, and before you know it, your newborn is smiling, eating, crawling and has changed so much. If you would like to preserve those early days, you may be considering a newborn and family photographer in Kingston. Read on to find out more about what to expect during a newborn photoshoot.

  1. Booking and preparation – The best time to book a newborn session is when your baby is between 8-21 days old. To ensure that you do not miss this short window, booking early is essential. Once you have reserved your session with your Kingston newborn Photographer, you will receive lots of helpful tips on outfits and what to bring.

2. You will have an appointment time, either in the morning or the afternoon, and when you arrive, the first few moments are relaxed, a time to settle yourself in for the session – have a cup of tea or coffee and decide on the outfit your newborn will wear. This is where your newborn photographer will take over and support you in getting the little one settled.

3. The studio will be warm and cosy, and with a comfortable space for parents to relax baby can relax and get ready for their session. Shal will have everything ready and set up with beautiful blankets, bonnets, outfits and precious props to style the session. All items are specially designed for newborn photography and are the BEST quality for your little one’s sensitive skin.

4. Shal will then dress and settle your baby on a beanbag, where most of the photographing takes place. All you, as parents, need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the experience. Until that is, it is your turn to join in the session. This is a great time to look through the products and frames displayed at the studio itself.

5. After the baby has been gently and lovingly posed and photographed, it is the turn of parents and siblings. If siblings of little ones are under two, I try to get these images first (to avoid the older ones getting fed up). Usually, my professional studio sessions last 2 hours. The preparation guide (sent before your session) is a great way to make sure that the session runs smoothly and that you are all able to get back home on time.

6. Finally,  a week after your session, you will return to the studio and choose your final package. This is also where you can order from digital packages, digital and product packages or just a frame, album, or prints.

Once all of the decisions have been made, you make your final payment and take home your beautiful professional images to keep and treasure forever!
