What to expect from your newborn session

Thank you for choosing Photography By Shal to capture this incredibly special time in your lives. Your session will take place in my home-studio, located at Kings Park Businesss Centre – Kingston Road, KT3 3ST. You may park here without charge.

There are approximately 10 steps to get to my studio.

This guide will guide you to know what to expect from your session and what you will need to bring with you.

The session

Please wear cool and comfortable clothing, as the studio will be nice and warm. Neutral colours always photograph well and suit my classic style. Please avoid large prints and logos. And just in case there is an accident, bringing an extra set of clothes is always a good idea. I have many outfits in my client wardrobe for your baby to wear, but if there is a particular outfit you would like them to wear, do bring it along!

The studio will be warm, so feel free to wear cool, comfy clothing for when you’re not in front of the camera. Hair and makeup are entirely up to you—whether you go for a natural look or something more glamorous, you’ll look amazing either way.

My clients are usually barefoot or wearing socks, so please ensure that you either have your nails painted/clean toes or matching socks (white works best). I ask families to kindly remove their shoes on entry to keep the floor hygienic for the babies that visit.

Outfits and styling

During the session, I will pose your baby into various positions, taking beautiful images along the way. I will also take family/parent/sibling shots alongside your baby. If you have a special item you would like to incorporate, please do bring it along.

I do capture detail shots with parents hands so please have tidy nails.

Preparation list for your shoot

– Pack your nappy bag with all the items you need for your baby.
