The first year of your baby’s life is going to be a wild whirlwind of many tiny milestones – from first smiles to a new tooth, to sitting up and rolling over – you want to capture them all. And while you witness all the tiny moments, you want to capture them too. These everyday moments deserve to be remembered, and luckily, with a camera phone to hand, you can. Here are some helpful tips from your wimbledon baby photographer to help you get started.

Below is a simple, parent-friendly aid to capturing those tiny moments – no fancy cameras required

1. Keep your phone handy

Babies don’t always perform when you want them to. Some of the sweetest moments happen when you’re not when you least expect them.

Get some extra tips to capture those moments, be can be –

  • To sort photos by file and date them by month. You can also label these ‘first moments’. ‘Funny faces’, et cetera.
  • To turn on your quick capture shortcut
  • Taking photos next to a window, where there’s natural light, works wonders for creating beautiful, timeless images.

2. Capture your daily routine.

Some ideas of these can include morning stretches, snuggles on your chest, bath time splashes, their favourite feeding or rocking space, their first taste of food (this one is a fun one!)

These are the moments that you really will forget, but when you look back on them will be the ones that you treasure forever.

3 take monthly growing photos

Being consistent with these is key, for example, using the same blanket, using monthly time cards, or having the same colour theme is a fun way to see how fast they’re growing. Keeping it simple always works best rather than having an elaborate set-up.

4. Show the capture the details

Zooming in on the details that make your baby tiny and new is also great for remembering the early days. Things like the flaking skin, scrunchie faces, wide yawns and wrinkly toes. These are all the details that will go by and disappear in a flash. And when you look back, are the ones that will bring joy to your heart.

5. Get in the photos

Many parents end up with hundreds, even thousands, of photos of their baby and not very many of them alongside. Your baby will treasure pictures of you and them more than pictures of them alone. So get in the photos, parents!

How you can do this is by.:

  • Taking a selfie
  • Using your phone self self-timer
  • Propping your phone on a bookshelf
  • Asking a partner or a friend visiting for a quick snapshot

Don’t worry about what you look like, your outfit being perfect or a spotless room. Your baby will want to see you and them in the moment, way back when.

6. Know one to bring in a professional.

Your everyday photos will be priceless to you and your family as the years go by. But there is magic to professional newborn Photography that phones simply cannot capture..

The pram, the pushchair, the cots, the bouncers, the toys all will disappear. However, the photographs you take with a Newborn photoshoot will be an investment and grow in value over time.

Your newborn Photographer can safely pose your baby. Take professional photos of your little bundle of joy, including details that you might not be able to notice with your camera phone. Create soft artistic lighting, offer heirloom quality prints and albums include you in the most important moment of your family’s journey.
