Double the love – Capturing twins at a newborn photoshoot in Wimbledon, London
Last month, I welcomed to my natural light studio 8-day-old twin brothers (and their family) for a newborn photoshoot in Wimbledon, London
Included were mum and dad, older brother (two-year-old) and lovely grandma, as well as the beautiful baby boys.
These twin and family sessions are extremely special – as I aim to not only capture the two little ones together, but also a variety of emotive images of the whole family, sibling and individual parent shots too. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture not only the twin baby boys and their older brother – who was an absolute superstar – at only two years old.
I only book one photoshoot a day, which ensures that everyone (including myself) is relaxed and not feeling rushed through the session.
On arrival, the twins were given similar outfits (chosen by the parents) from my client wardrobe. As it was a warm day, both boys were fast asleep and settled throughout the session.
I went through a variety of poses – with both boys and also individual portraits of them! This gave the family a lovely selection of images of the siblings, curly and cuddled up together as they were in the womb. But just as important, capturing their individual portraits (as I would in a single newborn session), showing off their own precious features and tiny personalities.
To ensure the safety of the newborns, there was always someone to assist. Using my 7 years of experience and training as a newborn photographer, I carefully went through my posing routine, including some amazing family shots along the way.
In each session, I always have a posing workflow – this means that I know (pretty much) what poses I want to create, and 95% of the time I get exactly this. This twins’ newborn photoshoot was no exception. From beautiful poses to candid family portraits, which reflected the fun personalities of each member of the family, the outcome was nothing less than spectacular! Creating heirloom moments for this family is something I do not take lightly, and knowing that these images will be treasured for a lifetime is one of the reasons that I became a newborn photographer.
