Hi, I am Shal – thanks for stopping by! I am Shal, a newborn and maternity photographer with a beautiful natural-light studio 10 minutes from Surbiton, SW London and ~Kingston Upon Thames.
I have been carrying out newborn, maternity and family photoshoots for nearly 7 years.
At,14 days old, I photographed this perfect little girl and her family. At just under two weeks old she was the perfect age for capturing Newborn photos.
You may ask why these photo shoots happen when babies are so young
Within the first couple of weeks after giving birth, babies are very sleepy and like to curl themselves up into positions, like when they’re in the womb. This allows me, your Surbiton studio newborn photographer, to capture different curly poses.
If you’ve looked around and have decided to book me as your Newborn Photographer, it is always best to book before the baby arrives. I only book a certain number of sessions per week to allow for flexibility with different birth dates. We would book a date approximately 10 days after your due date and will adjust if needed.
At my studio, which is specially designed for Newborn and family Photography, you will find everything you need to have a relaxed and comfortable photo shoot. There are drinks and snacks for you to enjoy while watching your baby being photographed, and your baby will always be in your line of sight.

When Baby arrived, she was fast asleep, so I gently took her out of her car seat and dressed her in my arms. I always work carefully and slowly to ensure the full safety of your newborn. With considerations including – the temperature of the room, the high-quality fabrics of the clothing, and the safety training that I have completed as a professional newborn photographer.
Once she was dressed, I placed her on the giant beanbag (posing bed) and began to pose her and create a lovely gallery of images. I always ensure that the baby is comfortable in the position that they are placed into and never force a baby into poses. With seven years of experience and my professional training, the safety and well-being of your infant is at the top of my priority list. I focus on specific poses (seen below) and detail shots (tiny fingers, toes and features).
Once I had finished photographing baby girl, I moved on to individual parents and family images, creating a gallery of over 70 images!
